MDS Leadership has made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming ES Summit due to the news of the COVID-19 spread in northern Italy. Italian Health Officials have implemented measures to prevent onward transmission including cancelling of mass gatherings in the areas affected. This includes containment/quarantine restrictions in and around Venice and the recent suspension of public events, such as the Carnival, which we understand are causing concern for the faculty and attendees.  In addition we have also learned that many other European countries are imposing travel restrictions or self-quarantine upon return from visits to Italy.

Due to these reasons, we believe it is best to not hold the ES Summit on March 18-20 in Venice. We appreciate the time and effort you have put in to be part of the ES Summit. We thank the ES Leadership and Summit Program Committee for all of their hard work and time they invested into developing this novel meeting and we hope to be able to hold the meeting at a later date.
